Hardcoal Chronicles 40th

1973 - 2013

The Greater Cultural Mission of The HARDCOAL CHRONICLES
is amplified by artist Jim Lukens ~

In 2010, The HARDCOAL CHRONICLES had the honor of being selected by reknown artist James Lukens, heir-apparent of the Bucks County School of Art style, to provide photographic images for interpretation into his paintings of Pennsylvania. 2010 was Jim's Silver Anniversary as an artist, and an opportunity for departure from his hallmark Pennsylvania pastorals. Starting from Hardcoal Chronicles photographs, Jim has now put his talents to work presenting subject matter from Northeastern Pennsylvania's Coal Region. It constitutes the first time he has made a major departure from his recognized range of subjects, and the first time the Hardcoal Chronicles has released images for interpretation into other mediums. We are grateful to Jim for his long tradition of supporting community health issues, civic projects, and animal rescue with his skills. Now we have the benefit of his talent and the broader reach of his audience to further tell our Coal Region's story.
